GENERAL DESCRIPTION:Are you ready to make a meaningful impact in public service? The District Attorney's Office in Casper, Wyoming, is seeking a dynamic Assistant District Attorney to join our team immediately. In this exciting role, you will play a vital part in prosecuting felony-level offenses, preparing a wide range of court documents, and arguing motions before the trial court. You'll have the opportunity to lead both jury and bench trials, collaborate closely with investigative agencies, and coordinate case investigations alongside law enforcement. Additionally, you'll oversee and guide the work of your assigned legal assistant.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function which may be performed at the job level.
- Initiates prosecution of individuals for felony cases.
- Supervises legal assistant assigned to work with the attorney.
- Reviews investigative reports and works with law enforcement officers and agencies to ensure that all offense elements have been investigated and ensure that the defendant's rights are not violated.
- Represents the State of Wyoming in jury trials and bench trials.
- Confers and negotiates with defense attorneys on pending cases, using communication and persuasive skills to resolve the case.
- Meets with crime victims through the Victim/Witness Coordinator assigned to the case and ensures their rights are observed and they have an opportunity to participate in the criminal justice system.
- Handles core assignments: rules making, contracts, documents review, client counseling, legal research, opinion writing, appellate briefs, pre-trial assignments (dispositive motions, discovery), trial assignments (preparing witnesses, exhibits, assisting in developing & executing strategy, contested cases), oral arguments, settlements.
- Handles various moderate to serious legal matters and can resolve moderate cases with general supervision; assist in preparing more complex legal matters.
- Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE:- Knowledge of criminal laws and jury instructions

- Skill in communication, using oratorical and persuasive speech on diverse subjects
- Skill in leadership and decision making
- Skill in the allocation of materials and personnel on a priority basis
- Skill in teamwork to be utilized with law enforcement, court personnel, and other community agencies and representatives
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:Juris DoctorateExperience:5-8 years of relevant legal experienceCertificates, Licenses, Registrations:License to practice law in Wyoming- Necessary Special Requirements
