Position Summary:

The Settlement Case Manager is responsible for managing a caseload of settlement cases, ensuring efficient and timely resolutions. This role involves conducting thorough investigations to gather necessary documentation, verifying and negotiating medical provider reductions, and preparing cases for final settlement. The Settlement Case Manager works closely with clients, attorneys, and other parties to explain the settlement process, address client concerns, and facilitate the disbursement of funds. They will maintain accurate case records, stay informed on relevant legal developments, and provide comprehensive support throughout the settlement process.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a caseload of settlement cases, ensuring timely and efficient resolution.
- Conduct thorough investigations to gather all necessary documentation and evidence related to the case.
- Verify and negotiate medical provider reductions under the direction of the attorney and other relevant parties to reach fair and favorable settlements.
- Assist clients in understanding the settlement process, explaining legal terms, and answering any questions or concerns they may have.
- Prepare case for accounting review and facilitate client disbursement once settlement documents are completed.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all settlement activities and communications in case management system.
- Collaborate with attorneys and legal staff to provide comprehensive support throughout the settlement process.
- Stay up to date on relevant laws, regulations, and industry best practices related to settlements and personal injury claims.
- Performs other duties as required.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or certifications in legal or insurance-related fields are preferred.
- Previous experience as a Settlements Case Manager or in a similar role within the legal or insurance industry is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of personal injury law and the settlement process.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively negotiate and advocate for clients.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in reviewing and analyzing settlement documentation.
- Empathy and compassion when working with clients who may be dealing with physical or emotional challenges.
- Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information with professionalism and integrity.
- Proficiency in using case management software or similar tools.
Physical Requirements:
- Office environment with normal business hours necessary to satisfactorily perform job functions.
- Stand/Sit – Must be able to remain in a stationary position up to 50% of the time.
- Walk – This position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access filing cabinets, meeting rooms, office machinery, etc.
- Use of hands/fingers to handle or feel – constantly operates a computer and other office machinery such as a copy machine/printer.
- Climbs stairs – May occasionally ascends/descends the stairs to get to other floors, cafeteria and parking area.
- Carry weight/lift - Occasionally moves supplies weighing up to 10 pounds for various presentation and event needs.
