Student Associate

As a Student Associate at Jeffcoat, you’ll have the opportunity to work side-by-side with experienced attorneys and legal colleagues, as well as directly with and for our clients. We aim to provide Student Associates with a realistic view of a law firm. You’ll network and learn about firm expectations while gaining hands-on experience.  

We are hiring for the Fall semester. Program dates: September 9, 2024 – December 6, 2024. To apply, please submit your resume, cover letter, and law school transcript.  

What you'll be doing: 

• Shadow and assist Attorneys on special projects and areas of greatest need. 
• Conduct research, create legal summaries, and prepare discovery.  
• Answer basic questions from the clients or pass on legal questions to a firm attorney. 
• Preparing briefs and drafting other documents. 
• Physical file maintenance and management. 
• Participates in training and workshops, such as Increasing Average Case Value Task Force and Jeffcoat Law School. 
• Attends required morning and monthly meetings. 
• Performs other job duties and responsibilities as assigned. 

Who you are: 

• Bachelor’s degree required.  
• Enrolled in an ABA-accredited law school. 
• Rising 2L’s or above.  
• Strong interpersonal, communication and writing skills. 
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office. Experience with Salesforce a plus.  
• Ability to multi-task, and work both within a team and independently.

Location: 1333 Main St Suite 510, Columbia, SC 29201 

Hours: Part Time between 10 – 15 hours per work.  

Office Hours: 8:30am – 5:30pm Monday through Friday.
