Job Summary

Job Summary:
Under general supervision, this position provides administrative and clerical support for the Prosecuting Attorney and his or her assistants.  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assists with preparation legal documents and prepares letters, correspondence, forms and other documents 
  • Operates office computers and various software
  • Performs word processing, emails, and other computer communications 
  • Assists Prosecutor and/or Assistant Prosecutor in Preliminary Hearing & Jury Trial preparation as assigned & requested 
  • Provides information to attorneys for subpoena-Paras prepare the subpoenas when they’re assigned to a case.  
  • May potentially assist with letters and court-related documents
  • Must be well organized and able to work independently
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Operate office equipment, including but not limited to: copy machine, computer, phone, and other standard equipment 
  • Perform all other duties as assigned

Education/Experience

Education/Experience:
Education equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice or related field. 
Experience working in a legal environment is required. 
Knowledge of Word, Power Point, Excel and WestlawNext, preferred.               

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of personal computers and standard software applications related to legal support work, including Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Knowledge of filing and electronic record keeping systems
  • Knowledge of English grammar, punctuation, and spelling
  • Advanced skill in communicating effectively using the English language, both orally and in writing 
  • Knowledge of legal processes and terminology 
  • Knowledge of the criminal justice system in the State of Missouri 
  • Skill in reading and preparing legal documents
  • Skill in handling stressful situations successfully and the ability to work well with other employees, court professionals and the public
  • Advanced skill in discretion and maintaining confidential information
  • Ability to work independently and follow instructions
  • Ability to learn and apply policies, procedures, documents, and terminology affecting assigned functions 
  • Advanced ability to maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
