COMMERCIAL -SENIOR LEGAL ASSISTANT
JOB SUMMARY -As s a Commercial Senior Legal Assistant you will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks including, but not limited to:
- Assist attorneys in preparing files. Review, draft, file, and serve legal documents, pleadings, and correspondence. Assist in the management of the department litigation calendar by scheduling hearings; and provide client updates when requested by clients or at the direction of manager or managing attorney.
- Follow, create and maintain standard operating procedures.
- Demonstrates the Firm’s core values in interactions with co-workers, attorneys, clients, the courts and consumers.
- Scanning, photocopying, collating, and faxing
- Document account/file activity in accordance with the Firm and client policies into the Firm’s system of record.
- Monitor litigation files to final adjudication.
- File documents with the courts via the traditional and electronic filings methods, as applicable
- Follow up with courts and other legal departments regarding filed documents, and hearings.
- Perform general clerical duties including scanning, photocopying, collating, and faxing.
- Handle client inquiries

- Ability to juggle multiple projects at once, ability to prioritize deadlines and commitments
- Ability to communicate in an effective manner

- Self-Starter and motivated
- Experience with Microsoft Office suite: Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Knowledge of CLS collection software is a plus
- 50+ WPM typing skills
- Ability to stand, sit, or walk for extended periods of time
- Ability to bend, lift, or carry up to 20 pounds
- All other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- Legal field certificate/2-year degree (experience substituted for education)
- Basic understanding of the legal process.
- Responsible individual who can work both independently and in a team environment.
- Competency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience with basic office hardware such as scanners, fax machine, copiers, etc.
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
- Superior written and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrate a strong work ethic and dependability.
- Background in civil litigation required, background in Creditors Rights Laws preferred, but will train.

TRAVEL – This position requires up to 0-5% travel. Travel excludes local commute.
