Our Land Use and Real Estate team works on high-profile projects across a variety of sectors, and we are looking to expand our practice with the addition of a Senior Associate or Partner-level Land Use and Real Estate Attorney. This is a unique opportunity for a seasoned attorney to play a pivotal role in growing and shaping our practice area.


Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced, results-driven Senior Associate or Partner-level Land Use and Real Estate Attorney to join our team. The ideal candidate will have 10+ years of experience in land use, zoning, real estate development, and environmental law, with a strong track record of advising clients on complex projects. This role offers the opportunity to take on significant responsibility in both client management and the growth of the practice, including leadership opportunities and potential for partnership.


Responsibilities:

  • Advise clients on a wide range of land use and real estate matters, including zoning, planning, entitlements, development agreements, and environmental regulations.
  • Manage complex real estate transactions, including acquisitions, dispositions, and financing, with an emphasis on development and public-private partnerships.
  • Lead negotiations on behalf of clients with public agencies, local governments, and other stakeholders in securing approvals for major land use projects.
  • Represent clients in land use hearings, administrative proceedings, and litigation involving zoning, property rights, and regulatory compliance.
  • Provide strategic advice on environmental compliance, CEQA, NEPA, and related issues in real estate and land development projects.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with clients, municipalities, developers, and government agencies to ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Supervise  and mentor junior associates, paralegals, and other team members while fostering an inclusive and collaborative work environment.
  • Contribute to business development efforts by identifying new opportunities, managing client relationships, and leading marketing initiatives for the firm’s land use and real estate practice.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • J.D. from an accredited law school.
  • 9+ years of experience in land use, real estate, zoning, environmental law, or related practice areas (public sector experience is a plus).
  • In-depth knowledge of California land use law, zoning codes, development regulations, CEQA, and related legal frameworks.
  • Proven ability to handle complex real estate transactions and development projects from start to finish.
  • Strong negotiation, drafting, and communication skills.
  • Experience managing client relationships and guiding clients through the land use and development process.
  • Ability to independently manage and oversee cases, projects, and teams while maintaining high levels of client satisfaction.
  • Admitted to practice in California.
Salary Description
$190,000-230,000 per year DOE
