The Senior Accountant will play a critical role in managing the day-to-day accounting operations of the firm. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in accounts payable, accounts receivable, QuickBooks, and advanced Excel functions. You will be responsible for maintaining financial records, preparing reports, and ensuring compliance with internal controls and financial best practices.
Accounts Payable & Receivable
Oversee all AP and AR functions, ensuring timely and accurate processing.
Review, verify, and reconcile invoices, expenses, and receipts.
Manage vendor payments and maintain strong relationships with vendors.
Monitor collections and follow up on outstanding accounts receivable.
Reconcile client trust accounts in accordance with legal and ethical guidelines.
General Accounting
Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts.
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial reports.
Perform bank and account reconciliations.
Maintain and improve accounting policies and procedures to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
QuickBooks Management
Utilize QuickBooks to manage all financial data.
Create and analyze financial reports using QuickBooks features.
Ensure all transactions are recorded accurately and timely.
Excel & Data Analysis
Use advanced Excel skills (e.g., VLOOKUP, pivot tables, data validation, conditional formatting) for financial analysis and reporting.
Develop and maintain financial models and dashboards.
Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
Compliance & Audit Support
Support audits and ensure compliance with GAAP and internal policies.
Assist with tax preparations and filings in collaboration with external accountants or auditors.
Working Schedule: Monday through Friday 9:00AM - 5:30PM EST
Salary: $70,000 - $100K per year
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred but not required).
Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, preferably in a law firm or professional services environment.
Strong proficiency in QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel.
Deep understanding of AP/AR processes, financial reporting, and GAAP.
High attention to detail with excellent organizational and analytical skills.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Experience
Experience in a personal injury or legal services firm.
Familiarity with client trust accounting and IOLTA rules.
Experience working with case management or billing software (e.g., Salesforce Litify).
