Join Our Team as Senior Counsel!
Join a dynamic legal team at The Energy Authority (TEA), where you’ll have the opportunity to collaborate with innovative colleagues and provide practical legal guidance that drives the energy industry forward. As Senior Counsel, you’ll play a key role in structuring and negotiating high-value energy and financing transactions. From drafting power, gas, transmission, and renewable energy contracts to advising on financial agreements, corporate governance, intellectual property, and regulatory matters, this role is perfect for a strategic thinker who thrives in a fast-paced environment.

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead high-impact transactions – Draft, review, and negotiate energy and commercial contracts, including commodity agreements, professional services agreements, confidentiality agreements, and procurement contracts.
  • Shape financial strategies – Oversee credit facilities, financing arrangements, and related agreements, ensuring compliance and financial efficiency.
  • Drive business solutions – Partner with TEA’s business units to develop contract templates, review RFPs, and provide timely, practical legal advice.
  • Navigate complex legal matters – Advise on corporate governance, dispute resolution, compliance, and regulatory issues while staying ahead of evolving industry laws.
  • Collaborate for success – Work cross-functionally on projects involving financings, intellectual property, counterparty bankruptcies, insurance matters, and more.
  • Optimize legal operations – Manage contract workflows, approvals, and record-keeping while driving efficiencies within the legal team.
  • Engage with external counsel – Partner on specialized legal matters, ensuring TEA remains at the forefront of the energy sector.

What You Bring:

  • J.D. degree from an accredited law school.
  • 6+ years of experience as a practicing attorney in a corporate legal department, large law firm, or both.
  • Active bar membership (Florida bar preferred).
  • Expertise in commercial and financial contracts, with a deep understanding of industry standards and negotiation strategies.
  • Substantial transactional experience, particularly in drafting and negotiating complex agreements.

Preferred Knowledge & Skills:

  • In-house or large law firm experience (highly preferred).
  • Background in commercial contracts, including ISDAs, EEIs, NAEMAs, LEAPs, and NAESBs is a plus.
  • Financial contract expertise in areas like credit facilities and financing agreements.

This is more than just a legal role—it’s an opportunity to be a trusted advisor in an evolving industry. If you’re ready to make a strategic impact, we’d love to hear from you!
