As an Asylum Officer (Training), you will identify, design, coordinate, and deliver training services to meet the training requirements of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) asylum offices.
Duties- Provide guidance as the subject matter expert on asylum and protection screening policy, procedures and law, and on the duties and responsibilities of asylum staff including country condition information and analysis.
- Work with management to identify training needs and develop and provide local trainings on asylum and protection screening policy, procedures, and law, and develop quarterly training schedule and monitor compliance with mandatory training.
- Conduct local asylum officer training for certification to adjudicate requests for asylum and protection screening.
- Support the national asylum officer training certification by reviewing and providing input on course material, reviewing and grading coursework, and administering graded practical exercises.
- Provide ongoing coaching, monitoring, and mentoring to local asylum officers that require additional support including officers who are not meeting asylum officer performance standards.
- Conduct reviews aimed at ensuring that applications for asylum benefits and other asylum workloads are adjudicated appropriately and that an appropriate level of quality in interviewing, case write-ups, and outprocessing are achieved and maintained.
