EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Associate degree with at least 1 year of paralegal, legal support, or equivalent experience in loan document preparation and processing, including real estate documentation, title review of real estate property, and/or experience in lien perfection of personal property and real estate collateral.
JOB SUMMARY
- Provides professional legal support services to Legal Department and attorneys in the form of legal research, drafting of legal and business communications, and general file management.
- Produce requested files and other documents as requested by attorneys and departmental management.
- Facilitate processing of out of state (non-Texas) real estate secured loans and management of outside counsel.
- Reviews and prepares title examination documents for non-consumer real estate secured Association loans and credit servicing actions according to established processes and procedures of the Association.
- Serve as a primary backup to department administrative assistant or legal operations specialist as follows: Performs clerical and administrative support for departmental management and staff.
- May serve as a backup to department document preparation specialists as follows: Prepares loan and credit servicing documents within accepted procedures and guidelines of the Association.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Assists Legal Department attorneys with loan files, loan and servicing documentation, and legal issues. Provides legal assistance to the attorneys by performing a variety of legal related tasks.
- Maintains appropriate level of legal knowledge of laws and regulations involving lending, real estate, title, and other applicable business areas of the Association, including homestead and community property laws, and Farm Credit scope and eligibility regulations.
- Responds to and completes work and assignments in a timely manner.
- Effectively communicates with credit office personnel, departmental staff and management, and other Association departments' staff.
- Searches and reviews business entity, trust, and estate documentation.
- Assists Real Estate Title Team with performing title examination of real estate secured loan and credit servicing actions, including title reviews, first lien and access issues, legal description sufficiency, lien certifications, and curative and corrections.
- May assist Document Preparation Team with performing document preparation of loan and credit servicing actions, including preparing loan and credit servicing documents, security instruments, legal descriptions, and subordinations.
- May process UCC (state and local level) filings, searches, and billing.
- May assist in maintaining files on current litigation, administrative actions, pending department projects, contracts, and other special situation matters as appropriate.
REQUIRED SKILLS

Knowledge of Federal law, state law, and Farm Credit Administration regulations related to loan documentation and real estate collateral; secured lending; loan and credit servicing documentation; loan documentation repository systems; title insurance; unauthorized practice of law rules and regulations; and Association policies, procedures, and guidelines.

Skilled in adapting to changing conditions; managing competing demands; oral and written communication; attention to detail and accuracy; providing customer service; and Microsoft Office applications.
