Working Environment: Hours: Monday Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Primary Function
Serve as support to the Assistant State's Attorneys assigned to the Child Support Enforcement court rooms that are located throughout Cook County.
Physical Requirements:
Medium Work: The position requires the ability to stand or walk frequently, often for extended periods. You may need to lift, carry, push, or pull objects weighing up to 20 pounds regularly, and occasionally heavier items. The job may also involve a significant amount of walking or standing relative to sedentary roles.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Pull court call and companion cases for each court date
- Prepare cases for up-coming court date by obtaining required information
- E-File and data enter motions
- Screen and data entry pro-se motions and private attorney motions
- Process and data entry incoming mail
- Check parties in when they arrive at court
- Update and verify parties' information
- Assist in drafting Court Orders
- Answer incoming calls, transfer to appropriate personnel and forward problem calls to the supervisor
- Enter Court Orders with the Clerk and make copies
- Update and process cases once they return from court
- Mail court orders and other documentation
- Keep files organized
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned
Qualifications:
Required:
- The candidate must have the ability to multi-task and possess excellent grammar, organizational and communication skills; written and verbal.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications; SharePoint, Outlook, Word, Excel.
- The candidate must have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with highly sensitive information.
- The candidate must be able to work independently and travel to the outlying districts when needed.
Preferred:
- Working knowledge of CARES and Cook County Clerk's system preferred.
