Job Description

The Manager, Strategic Intelligence is responsible for supporting various business development initiatives and projects by preparing and leveraging comprehensive research and strategic analysis to identify opportunities for growth, aligning with the Firm’s overarching priorities and goals. This role will lead a team of junior team members, fostering a collaborative environment while implementing best practices for organizing, collecting, analyzing, and presenting content. Additionally, the Manager will ensure the quality, accuracy, and consistency of research produced by the Business Development team. 

  

Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Support the Strategic Intelligence Director in conducting and delivering actionable strategic analysis and reports that guide internal initiatives and inform stakeholders’ decision-making. 

  • Manage, oversee, and evaluate the research produced by team members, while also leading the development of periodic activity reports used by key stakeholders. 

  • Mentor, coach, and train team members on research resources, methodologies, and best practices, fostering a culture of continuous professional development and skill enhancement. 

  • Conduct thorough quantitative and qualitative research; compile, organize, and analyze internal and external intelligence on key clients and prospects, in addition to market, industry, and competitor trends, ensuring strategic alignment with firm objectives. 

  • Create and deliver tailored, thoughtful, and responsive research and analysis, translating findings into actionable insights and recommendations that drive decision-making. 

  • Collaborate with and provide strategic support to the broader business development team to identify and implement innovative strategies that advance initiatives and specialized projects, thereby driving efficiency and effectiveness. 

  • Establish and monitor metrics for research quality and team performance, facilitating continuous improvement and alignment with best practices that meet or exceed industry benchmarks. 

 

Education :

 

  •  Bachelor's degree  

Preferred 

  • Master’s degree  

  

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Minimum of 8-10 years of combined business development and research experience, preferably in a law firm or corporate environment, with people management experience. 
  • Demonstrated experience in leading a team, including mentoring and developing junior members of the team, and fostering a collaborative team environment. 

  • Solid research acumen, strong data analysis capabilities, and a proven track record of translating data into strategic insights that influence decision-making. 

  • Demonstrated intellectual curiosity and substantial knowledge of the legal services industry with the ability to independently ask critical questions, anticipate needs, and identify solutions that yield actionable intelligence impacting strategic decisions. 

  • Ability to produce clear, concise, and well-structured written and verbal communications effectively tailored to various audiences, including senior leadership. 

  • Strong attention to detail, exemplary organizational and project management skills, and a steadfast commitment to the accuracy and completeness of information. 

  • Proven flexibility and capability to manage competing priorities in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. 

  • Outstanding interpersonal skills, with demonstrated ability to lead effectively and foster collaboration across teams and departments. 

  • Proficient in utilizing advanced research tools and platforms, including Capital IQ, PitchBook, Refinitiv, Bloomberg, BloombergLaw, and other market intelligence tools, as well as MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel). 

Preferred 

  • Prior experience in creating and leading training programs focused on strategic intelligence and business development best practices, particularly within a law firm environment. 

  • Demonstrated success in client-facing roles and presenting insights to partners or senior stakeholders, ensuring alignment with business development objectives. 

Salary Information

NY Only: The estimated base salary range for this position is $180,000 to $200,000 at the time of posting.

The actual salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job. This role is exempt meaning it is not overtime pay eligible.
