The Paralegal provides critical support to the legal and compliance functions of the organization, focusing on the preparation of legal and regulatory documents and materials. This role involves drafting detailed, accurate, and professional documents such as EEOC claim responses, legal correspondence, and compliance summaries. The position requires advanced research, writing, and analytical skills, with an emphasis on interpreting complex information and producing precise, well-reasoned content. Working under the direction of legal leadership, the Paralegal will also assist in regulatory compliance efforts and collaborate with internal teams to address legal and operational needs.

This is a full-time position that is required to be onsite at our corporate office Monday - Friday 8am-6pm

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Drafting Legal Documents:
    • Prepare well-reasoned responses to EEOC claims, including factual analysis and legal arguments, under attorney supervision.
    • Draft letters, position statements, agreements, and other legal correspondence with clarity and attention to detail.
    • Create summaries of legal matters, including case evaluations, internal investigations, and document reviews.
  • Legal Research and Analysis:
    • Conduct legal research to support drafting efforts and to advise on regulatory, compliance, and employment-related issues.
    • Summarize statutes, regulations, and case law relevant to the organization’s operations and compliance needs.
  • Regulatory Compliance Support:
    • Assist in responding to state and federal regulatory inquiries, including drafting official responses, and gathering supporting documentation.
    • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of laws and regulations affecting the IDD industry, including employment law, HIPAA, and Medicaid requirements.
  • Collaboration:
    • Partner with Human Resources, Compliance, and Operational leaders to ensure organizational alignment with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Document Management:
    • Organize, maintain, and track legal files, ensuring compliance with organizational and legal standards.
    • Assist in creating and maintaining templates for frequently used documents.
  • Other duties as assigned

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

This position has no supervisory responsibilities

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Paralegal certificate preferred but not mandatory.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of paralegal or equivalent legal experience, preferably with exposure to employment law or regulatory matters.
  • Outstanding legal writing and editing skills, with the ability to articulate complex concepts clearly and effectively.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in legal research tools (e.g., Westlaw, LexisNexis) and document management systems.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks with competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with employment law, discrimination claims, and regulatory requirements in healthcare or the IDD industry is highly desirable.
  • Understanding of EEOC processes and claims management is a plus.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Ability to perform tasks requiring sustained physical activity, such as sitting, standing, walking, or repetitive hand movements.
  • Frequent use of standard office equipment, including computers, phones, and other peripherals.
  • Ability to lift and carry items within a reasonable weight range, if necessary.
  • Regular use of technology and exposure to prolonged periods of screen time.
