
JOB SUMMARY
The Manager of Legal Affairs, Senior Paralegal is responsible for performing a variety of legal management functions and factual investigations, including legal tasks that require significant independent judgment and responsibility for supervising legal matter management. This role will assist in house and outside counsel in dispute resolution and providing excellent and timely counsel to the business on employment issues and general commercial and corporate support.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Performs legal tasks that require significant independent judgment.
Develops procedures and systems to provide effective legal services.
Perform complex legal and regulatory compliance research for review by an attorney.
Assists in all aspects of disputes, governmental agency claims, and litigation, including reviewing pleadings, coordinating document productions, and assisting with case and claim strategy.
Coordinates with outside counsel, plaintiff’s counsel, insurance brokers and carriers, and other third parties to provide counsel and services to internal stakeholders.
Examines, organizes, analyzes, and summarizes information relating to particular questions and organizes the communication into a logical and usable work product.
Investigates factual issues using a variety of sources and collaborating across business functions, particularly with human resources, field operations, product quality and compliance, and real estate & facilities.
Presents results of all workstreams in effective written communications.
Coordinates and supervises the preparation of legal documents and coordinates with the attorneys in representation of the corporation
Drafts complex legal documents and correspondence for review and approval by attorneys.
Provides timely responses to requesting departments and assists outside counsel as requested.
Responsible for planning, organizing, coordinating and tracking related to various legal matters and legal department operations.
Works with all departments to ensure timely handling and completion of the company’s legal activities.
Various additional duties supporting and collaborating with other members of the legal department in order to deliver excellent service to the business.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree with at least 5 years of experience as a paralegal.
Requires critical thinking skills sufficient to make independent decisions regarding daily work tasks.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and legal and insurance technology solutions.
Possesses excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Demonstrates the ability to meet obligations with confidentiality, integrity, and sensitivity.
High attention to detail and the ability to follow up on assignments with little or no guidance from leadership.
Working knowledge of basic accounting principles and Excel.
Familiarity with retail-specific legal issues including labor and employment law, consumer law, e-commerce regulations, and regulatory compliance.
Anticipates workstreams and prioritizes work successfully.
Produces accurate results.
