The Ohio Attorney General’s Office has played a vital role in shaping Ohio’s past and present and the work it does today helps chart the state’s future. The office consists of nearly 30 distinct sections that advocate for consumers and victims of crime, assist the criminal justice community, provide legal counsel for state offices and agencies, and enforce certain state laws. In these and other capacities, staff members interact with tens of thousands of Ohioans each year.

We are currently seeking an Assistant Attorney General for an opening in the Administrative Law Unit of the Charitable Law Section. The successful candidate should be experienced, licensed, have a passion for public service, demonstrated commitment to protecting the unprotected, and possess an ability to work effectively with diverse groups. The successful candidate will possess strong oral, written and verbal communication skills, be able to articulate complex legal matters, and exhibit creativity and innovation in their role as an assistant attorney general.  This position will work a hybrid in-person/remote schedule. There may be changes to this schedule based on training and operational needs. The headquarter location is 30 East Broad Street, Columbus, Ohio.

The Administrative Law Unit represents the gaming and liquor regulatory agencies of the state, including the Ohio Liquor Control Commission, Ohio Casino Control Commission, Ohio State Racing Commission, Ohio Lottery Commission, Department of Commerce-Division of Liquor Control, and Department of Public Safety-Ohio Investigative Unit. Representation of these agencies will include administrative hearings and civil litigation, as well as providing limited legal counsel. Applicants should possess significant litigation experience, including excellent research and writing, oral advocacy, and client relationship skills.
