Job Summary

The Manager of Business Development will be based in the New York office and will support the office and New York Litigators. This position is responsible for developing and implementing strategies to cultivate business with current and prospective clients, as well as elevate the profile of the New York office, in addition to practice group responsibilities. The Business Development Manager will identify and execute strategies and signature programs to educate, inform, and strengthen client relationships and will facilitate connections among attorneys to help capitalize on business opportunities. The position will report to the Business Development Director (Litigation) and operate as a strategic advisor to the New York Office Managing Partner.

Job Responsibilities

New York Office

  • Develops strategies and approaches to facilitate collaborative business development, branding, and targeted community outreach to raise the profile of the New York office.
  • Coordinates office, client, and practice group events, sponsorships, advertisements and speaking engagements.
  • Develops and executes a NY office business plan
  • Connects dots across attorneys within the New York office and the firm to unlock collaborative business opportunities.
  • Collaborates with the firm’s events coordinator to support client events in the New York office.
  • Develops informative agendas for NY partner meetings.
  • Develops office and practice group award submissions for publications like Crain’s New York and Chambers.
  • Works with the PR team to coordinate proactive media and publishing opportunities to elevate the profile of the practice group and individual attorneys.

Practice Group

  • Assists in developing and implementing practice group strategies to cultivate business with current and prospective clients.
  • Identifies and executes on cross-selling opportunities.
  • Develops marketing collateral website descriptions, and other client facing materials; ensures materials are regularly updated.
  • Strategizes and develops high quality, tailored pitch materials and responses to RFPs.
  • Supports the firm’s Client Service Team program, including serving as an account manager for select client teams that are led by New York partners.
  • Supports lateral integration efforts.
  • Works with firm lawyers to support key initiatives.
  • Conducts client, prospect, industry, competitor and market research/analysis to inform targeted business development efforts.
  • Develops systems to help track progress on practice priorities.
  • Collects matter data for inclusion in the firm’s experience database.
Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Demonstrated ability to build strong working relationships across all levels of the organization and work both independently and with others in a cooperative, enthusiastic and friendly manner to accomplish position functions and participate in team efforts.
  • Strong business and marketing acumen, including the ability to leverage research and competitive intelligence to identify business opportunities and support go-to-market strategies.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and maintain a productive and committed work effort, meeting deadlines and managing workload.
  • Excellent time management, organization, and prioritization skills. 
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing with internal and external clients/personnel at all levels.
  • Strong knowledge of and familiarity with legal and business environments. 
  • Demonstrated knowledge of CRM systems and experience management databases.

 

Education

The position requires a Bachelor’s Degree.

 

Experience

The position requires a minimum of five (5) years of increasingly responsible, directly related experience during which the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities were attained. Experience in a legal professional services firm environment is preferred.

Our Firm is committed to fair and equitable compensation practice in accordance with applicable laws. The pay range for this position is $131,000-$172,000. Additional compensation may include a discretionary bonus. Other benefits include healthcare, vision, dental, retirement, and all-purpose leave. The salary for this position may vary based on location, market data, an applicant’s skills and prior experience, certain degrees and certifications, and other factors.
