Responsibilities:- Provide advice and counsel to internal clients within the business groups on all aspects of labor and employment law.
- Represent Freudenberg in pre-litigation employment disputes and administrative agency charges.
- Strategically guide and manage litigation in coordination with CLE attorneys and outside counsel to ensure the best result for the business group and Freudenberg.
- Provide traditional labor law support to union-represented sites with respect to collective bargaining negotiations, grievances and arbitrations, and contract compliance.
- Conduct and oversee investigations of violations of Company policies and labor and employment laws.
- Participate in proactive risk assessments and the development and implementation of risk mitigation plans.
- Stay informed about new laws and regulations that affect Freudenberg policies and practices and work with the business groups to ensure compliance.
- Share knowledge and expertise with colleagues inside and outside the legal department by preparing, organizing, and delivering training for non-legally trained personnel.
- Assist in and support the development and implementation of robust internal processes, policies, standard documents, templates, checklists, guidelines, and compliance tools for the human resources function in the Americas.
- In coordination with CLE lawyers, support due diligence and provide legal advice on acquisitions, divestitures, and other corporate transactional matters, including post-acquisition integration.
- A JD from a U.S. accredited law school. A Bachelor of Laws degree from an accredited Brazilian institution and licensure in Brazil is preferred.
- Fluent in Portuguese is required
- Licensure or eligibility for licensure in United States.
- 5+ years of experience in the labor and employment practice group of a large U.S. law firm or equivalent experience.
- Experience defending charges and litigation brought under the federal and state laws applicable to employees in the U.S..
- Experience with commercial law.
- Experience in the legal department of an international company.
- Experience with the laws in other South or Latin America countries is preferred.
- Experience in M&A processes (including mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures) is preferred.
