YOUR ROLE
Aramark Northern Europe is looking for a Senior Legal Counsel to join our friendly and collegiate Northern Europe Legal team, this is a fixed term for a period of 12 months. This role is focused on providing pragmatic and clear advice on, and negotiating to conclusion, a wide variety of commercial contracts for our UK & Irish businesses and leading a variety of strategic projects which arise from time to time.  As this is a Northern European position, the successful candidate can be based at our head office in Northern Cross, Dublin 17, or equally at our office in Farnborough, London or Aberdeen, Scotland.

We are looking for a savvy, commercial contracts lawyer who is a self-starter, collaborative, curious and solutions focused.  This role brings the opportunity to work closely with our business teams in procurement, food, facilities, global offshore and Avoca across Ireland, the UK and beyond. It is a new role which has arisen due to increased business needs and the successful person will support the General Counsel for Northern Europe on a variety of matters.  The role will be high-profile and fast paced with an opportunity for the successful candidate to hone their expertise under the mentorship of a knowledgeable and experienced in-house team whilst working for a diverse multi-national across multiple geographies such as Ireland, the UK, the US and the Middle East.

Job Responsibilities
  • Draft, review, negotiate and advise on a wide variety of complex client contracts e.g. supply and distributor agreements, project finance agreements, service and master service agreements, concession agreements, framework contracts, franchise agreements, etc. 
  • Support the General Counsel and the Legal Directors for the UK and Irish businesses in a variety of strategic projects, as require
  • Provide pragmatic and solution-focused legal advice and recommend risk mitigations where available
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to drive compliance with internal governance policies, processes and escalations relating to contracts and legal risk.
  • Play a key role in driving various cross-functional projects forward and co-ordinating inputs from legal and business stakeholders and external counsel (as applicable)
  • Assist in continuously improving contract review processes and workflows with a focus on balancing risk management, business needs and operational efficiency and promote, support and implement other Legal team initiatives 
  • Represent Aramark’s interests and interface directly with client’s lawyers and client teams, and engage with external counsel where necessary across the region
  • Develop subject matter expertise in one or more areas that benefit Legal and/ or our business
Key Requirements
  • Qualified lawyer with a minimum of 3 (and ideally 4-5) years PQE entitled to work in Ireland and/ or the UK
  • Demonstrated experience in advising & negotiating any complex commerical contracts with a preference for experience with construction/ project finance contracts, oil & gas contracts, supply and distribution contracts, and/ or general commercial service contracts in the food or integrated services industries in Ireland and/ or the UK (a lawyer with relevant market experience practicing in both Irish and English law is strongly preferred but not essential)
  • Ability to demonstrate a pro-active and commercial approach in identifying solutions and mitigating risk in a manner which supports business objectives
  • Versatile to be able to develop and change as the role evolves and matures
  • Self-motivated to work independently to advance projects seeking direction/ guidance and collaborating, as appropriate 
  • Strong influencing style, articulate and confident and ability to build strong relationships across the business
  • Highly responsive and follows through on commitments 
  • Strong team player, organisational and project management skills
