Duties include providing complex, legal technical support to attorneys; reviewing contracts, city ordinances, policies, and resolutions; drafting legal documents including motions and orders; responding to Public Information Act Requests and crafting arguments to the Attorney General; performing legal research; creating and maintaining departmental files; preparing for and assisting attorneys during disciplinary appeal hearings; and performing other special projects and administrative support tasks for attorneys as assigned. Duties will require a high level of organizational skills, effective communication skills and the ability to manage extensive client contact while maintaining a professional demeanor. A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four year college or university, or additional experience equivalent to a degree, and three years’ relevant paralegal experience is required, with experience working for a government law office preferred. Must also have a paralegal certification and a high level of proficiency with Microsoft Office products. A working knowledge of CityLaw or an equivalent legal file management system is a plus. Candidates with experience handling open records requests for a Texas law enforcement agency will be highly preferred. A résumé must be submitted with application.
