- The Environmental Division is located within the Legal Services Division of the North Carolina Department of Justice, Attorney General's Office. The Division represents multiple clients in multiple areas of law. Division provides legal representation to the Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ), its component divisions, and the various commissions to which DEQ provides staff support. The Environmental Division is divided into three operating sections, including the Land, Groundwater and Waste Section, the Air, Water and Natural Resources Section, and the Commissions, Coastal and Administrative (CCA) Section. This position is assigned to the CCA Section and reports directly to the CCA Section Head.
The primary purpose of this Administrative Specialist I position will be to serve as the Division's receptionist. This position provides assistance to attorneys and paralegals in litigation and client representation on non-litigation matters; prepares legal documents and correspondence; generates and maintains accurate and efficient filing systems and updates Division databases for document and information control; provides timely and accurate messaging and receptionist services to attorneys, other staff members and the public; provides administrative support to attorneys and other staff members by making travel arrangements and preparing requests for reimbursement of expenses.
THE STARTING SALARY FOR A NEW HIRE TO THIS POSITION IS LIMITED TO THE RECRUITMENT RANGE OF $37,782 to $48,410. Salary offers for the selected candidate are based on the candidate's education and experience related to the position, as well as our agency budget and equity.
