Associate Corporate Counsel, Trademarks
Job Description:
As an attorney on our IP team, you’ll be the trademark leader for multiple brand portfolios in our consumer retail space. You will interact directly with teams to provide thoughtful and strategic advice on brands, trademarks, copyrights and domain names. Responsibilities include management of clearance, prosecution, maintenance and enforcement of growing US and foreign trademark portfolios, client counseling, developing and implementing intellectual property protection policies, and educating and coaching the business on intellectual property matters.
This position will be an attorney in a dynamic team of IP professionals responsible for trademark, copyright and domain issues globally. Compensation based on experience and includes equity compensation.
Basic Qualifications:
• At least 3 years of relevant experience with trademark and copyright issues, especially those relevant to fashion and design (in-house experience a plus)
• A J.D. degree and membership in good standing in at least one state bar
Preferred Qualifications:
• Ability to be responsible for all trademark and copyright-related activities for multiple business segments, including training, branding, risk assessment, prosecution, maintenance and enforcement, in a fast-paced, frugal environment
• Experience managing a trademark portfolio, consisting of domestic and foreign marks
• Experience leading investigations and negotiations to resolve third-party trademark disputes
• Ability to understand and resolve complex legal and business issues
• Ability to effectively translate IP issues to members of the creative, technology, business, management and legal teams
• Creativity, attention to detail, commitment to customer service, and excellent communication skills
• A sense of humor and a passion for trademark law
- 2+ years of legal experience
- Juris Doctor and membership in one state bar or equivalent
- Experience in private practice or in house experience at a technology company or equivalent
- Experience managing multiple projects and meeting aggressive deadlines
- Experience of a mix of corporate law firm and in-house work
- Experience in web services/cloud computing, software licensing, telecommunications or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $118,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $195,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
