Description

The Assistant Court Clerk’s role within the big City's overall success will support the City's municipal court functions, handling administrative, clerical, and accounting tasks. As an entry-level position, the role involves following established procedures, yet requires exercising discretion and judgment. While the incumbent operates within the governing framework of State statutes and City ordinances, they must interact tactfully and courteously with the public, police, attorneys, and other personnel.

• Knowledge of the City's municipal court functions, State statutes, and City ordinances.
• Strong organizational skills to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and ensure accuracy in a dynamic work environment.
• Excellent communication skills to handle inquiries from various stakeholders and effectively address public concerns.
• Proficiency in various computer systems related to citation processing, payment processing, and record-keeping.
• Attention to detail when composing legal documents and ensuring the accuracy of all processed information.
• Ability to handle cash, make transactions, and reconcile accounts with integrity and accuracy.
• Interpersonal skills to interact with diverse groups, including the public, police, attorneys, and other city personnel, with tact and professionalism.

Microsoft Office, INCODE, multiline telephone, scanner, shredder, copier and OMNI base program
Work Environment or atmospheric conditions commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job.

• The work is primarily performed indoors in a professional office or courtroom environment.
• The setting is generally comfortable, though occasional variations in temperature, noise levels, or humidity may occur.
• Standard precautions and procedures are in place to ensure a safe and secure work environment.

• Work requires the ability to sit, stand, walk for extended periods of time.
• Work requires the ability to complete repetitive wrist, hand, and/or fine motor movement.

• Work requires the ability to talk, hear, listen, and comprehend.
• Work requires visual acuity of 20 feet or more, visual acuity of 20 inches or less, precise hand/eye coordination, the ability to identify and distinguish colors
• Must be able to lift up to 5 pounds.
• Work requires the ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl.

 

 

SALARY:

  • Hiring range - $37,918- $39,811 ($18.23 - $19.14)
  • Salary range - $37,918 - $56,888

 

**Salary is dependent on qualifications and certifications**

Qualifications

Education               HS_GED /HS _diploma

Experience              Minimum of 2 years previous relevant work experience is required in any of the following - Office Admin Assistant, Customer Service, or Local Government (Municipal Court)

Certifications           Certified Court Clerk Level I certification required to be obtained within 2 years of hire date, Required to attend 12 hours a year of continuous education through TMCEC.
