Job Description
Singleton Schreiber, LLP is seeking an experienced Immigration Attorney to lead and grow our immigration practice, starting with a focus on deportation and asylum matters. This role involves direct client representation in immigration matters, with the opportunity to help shape the firm's immigration practice over time.
This is a hybrid position based out of San Diego, CA.
SALARY: $150,000-$175,000 annually
Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as location, skills, experience, and qualifications for the role.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Represent clients in removal proceedings, including asylum, withholding of removal, and CAT applications.
- Prepare filings for immigration court and USCIS, including motions, briefs, and supporting evidence.
- Conduct client interviews, gather declarations, and manage supporting documentation.
- Attend master and individual hearings and bond proceedings.
- Collaborate with internal staff and external partners to ensure high-quality legal service.
- Track case deadlines and manage a full caseload efficiently.
- Stay up to date on immigration law and policy changes.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- Juris Doctor degree from an ABA-accredited law school.
- Active license to practice law in California.
- 5+ years of experience in immigration law, including substantial work on asylum and removal-related cases.
- Proven experience representing clients before EOIR (immigration court) and USCIS in removal and humanitarian proceedings.
- Strong writing, advocacy, and organizational skills.
- Experience working with vulnerable populations.
- Spanish proficiency strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with family-based petitions, humanitarian relief (VAWA, U/T visas, SIJS), and naturalization preferred.
- Experience with detained representation and bond hearings.
