Overview
A highly regarded, boutique intellectual property firm is seeking a Patent Attorney with a strong life sciences background to join its growing practice. This role offers the opportunity to work on complex and cutting-edge matters in biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, and related fields.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft and prosecute U.S. and international patent applications
- Work closely with inventors, scientists, and in-house counsel
- Conduct:
- Patentability analyses
- Freedom-to-operate (FTO) analyses
- Validity and infringement assessments
- Support IP due diligence for transactions and licensing matters
- Provide strategic intellectual property guidance to clients
- Collaborate with attorneys and technical specialists on complex patent matters
Technical Focus
- Biotechnology
- Pharmaceuticals
- Molecular biology, genetics, therapeutics
- Diagnostics, antibodies, gene therapy
Qualifications
- Ph.D. (or equivalent advanced degree) in biology, molecular biology, genetics, or related field
- USPTO registration required
- ~3–5+ years of patent prosecution experience (more senior candidates also considered)
- Strong academic credentials
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
