
Nurse Paralegal – Ft. Lauderdale, FL
Quintairos, Prieto, Wood & Boyer, P.A., a multi-office national law firm, is experiencing continued growth and is seeking a full-time Nurse Paralegal to join our Ft. Lauderdale office. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced RN who is passionate about combining medical knowledge with the legal field in a dynamic litigation environment.
About the Role
The Nurse Paralegal will play a critical role in supporting attorneys with a robust defense litigation caseload, with a strong focus on medical negligence matters. This hands-on position involves analyzing complex medical records, preparing detailed summaries, and working closely with legal teams, experts, and clients.
Key Responsibilities
Request, review, and summarize medical records for use by attorneys, clients, and medical experts
Analyze records and billing documentation to assess case strengths, weaknesses, and identify discrepancies or omissions
Prepare organized outline and narrative summaries and chronologies for internal use and client presentations
Conduct research using medical journals and online resources to support case preparation
Assist with deposition and trial preparation, including medical evidence organization
Identify and vet medical experts; assist attorneys in coordinating deposition and trial prep
Draft and edit disclosures, reports, case analysis memoranda, and correspondence
Ensure all case-related data is properly organized and exhibits are compiled for hearings or trial
Maintain strict adherence to HIPAA and other regulatory compliance standards
Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) required
Experience in clinical nursing practice is required; prior nurse paralegal or legal department experience strongly preferred
Solid understanding of medical terminology, laboratory tests, medications, and the ability to interpret and explain complex diagnoses
Highly organized and detail-oriented with strong analytical skills and the ability to meet deadlines
Familiarity with medical billing and healthcare record systems
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; confident preparing professional documentation for attorneys and clients
Physical Demands & Work Environment
Primarily sedentary work with regular use of computers and office equipment
Occasional lifting of materials up to 20 lbs
Indoor office setting with standard business hours and occasional interruptions
