This position will provide you the opportunity to organize and lead the City’s Freedom of Information Act public records compliance from within the City Attorney’s Office.

Minimum Requirements- Requires a high school diploma or GED, supplemented by completion of a paralegal program recognized by the American Bar Association.
- Three (3) years experience processing FOIA or other public records requests or providing discovery and litigation support in a legal office, or both.
- Considerable knowledge of FOIA public records disclosure requirements and procedures and/or experience in a local government legal office are strongly preferred.
- An acceptable combination of qualifying education and experience may be considered in lieu of the more specific criteria outlined above.
- Must successfully pass a background check related to this position prior to an offer of promotion or employment.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and must have and maintain a satisfactory driving record based on the City of Hampton’s criteria.
Additional Requirements- Requires effective communication with internal and external customers.
- The incumbent may be considered “essential personnel” during City emergency situations or at the direction of the City Manager which may include long hours and unusual schedules.
