About the Position: This position is located at U.S. Army Installation Management Command, U.S. Army Garrison Fort Jackson, Installation Legal Office, Legal Assistance Branch, Fort Jackson, South Carolina. If you are currently serving in a permanent, competitive service appointment in the Federal service, and are selected for this position, the appointment will remove you from the competitive service while you occupy this position.
Duties- Serves primarily as legal counsel for the Installation on all matters concerning Environmental Law and Native American Affairs.
- Determines the applicability of complex and difficult local, state and federal environmental regulations, laws and pending legislation, court decisions and opinions.
- Advises command on all actions involving environmental law.
- Responds to questions of environmental law or administrative policy concerning installation operations and contacts (e.g., industry, private and professional associations, state, local, Federal governments, or the general public, etc.
- Provides accurate, timely, and proactive written legal advice to the Command and installation directorates on various matters.
- Provides accurate, timely, and proactive legal advice regarding all aspects of Army procurement in accordance with applicable statutes, executive directives, the current Federal Acquisition Regulation.
- Serves as Labor and Civilian Personnel Law advisor for Fort Jackson and tenant activities, providing legal advice, both oral and written, on civilian personnel law, employment discrimination law, and all labor relations matters.
- Represents the Command in administrative hearings before mediators, arbitrators, investigators, and Administrative Judges from various agencies.
