Job Description SummaryWe have an opening for a Paralegal I (Complex Litigation).
The Paralegal I (Complex Litigation) supports the management of cases and/or projects, and coordinates the related workflow.Job Description
In this capacity, the Paralegal I (Complex Litigation) will:
Perform work in an efficient and cost-effective manner so as to permit the Firm to reasonably collect fees for such work;
Meet expectations of billable hours target of 1,400 (unless otherwise specified);
Assist with legal business transactions, and the preparation, production and organization of legal documents and binders;
Perform daily case management tasks, including organizing and saving key case correspondence, pleadings, discovery, expert materials, and client documents Coordinate with internal resources and outside vendor services;
Assist with factual research in internal and external databases and coordinate with research services staff;
Assist with deposition, hearing, trial and arbitration preparation, and attend as needed;
Work overtime as required; travel as required; and
Handle additional related projects as assigned.
Proficiencies:
Fundamental proficiency in MS Outlook and web-based conference call/web-sharing applications;
Fundamental proficiency in MS Word and document editing/comparison applications;
Fundamental proficiency in MS Excel and spreadsheet/database applications;
Fundamental proficiency in MS PowerPoint and presentation applications;
Fundamental proficiency in online research and internet resources (Lexis-Nexis, Westlaw and equivalents);
Fundamental knowledge of legal terminology;
Fundamental knowledge of relevant jurisdictional/court/agency processes and procedures (preferred);
Fundamental knowledge of timekeeping and expense reporting applications (preferred); and
Fundamental knowledge of legal billing processes (preferred).
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree (preferred);
At least 1 year or relevant experience (preferred); and
Fluency in Spanish (preferred).
The salary wage range for New York that we expect to pay for this position is a minimum of $50,000 and a maximum of $65,000 annually. The actual pay wage may vary based on experience or other relevant factors.
