About the Role: Legal Assistant/Paralegal
Southwood Realty Company is seeking a Legal Assistant/Paralegal to become a part of our team and work under the General Counsel. The paralegal will assist this multi-family apartment and real estate firm in performing daily legal work under the supervision of the General Counsel. This position will work full-time on site at our Corporate Office in Gastonia, NC.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and draft documents on behalf of Southwood Realty Company and its affiliates/subsidiaries
- Organize legal documents and files
- Obtain pertinent case information and data from our properties
- File documents at the Courthouse
- Draft & send out correspondence/letters
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree is preferred
- Previous experience at a law firm or in-house legal department is preferred
- Paralegal Certificate is preferred
- A Working knowledge of the following legal processes
- Commercial real estate closings
- Litigation
- Contracts
- Landlord/Tenant law
- Insurance claims
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to build rapport with staff
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
