
Job Description
Hinman, Howard & Kattell, LLP is seeking an experienced litigation paralegal to join our Binghamton office. This full-time position (37.5 hours/week) offers a collaborative work environment and a competitive compensation and benefits package. We are looking for a skilled professional with at least five years of paralegal experience who thrives in a fast-paced, team-oriented setting.
- Draft, edit, and proofread litigation documents under attorney supervision.
- Research and apply court and agency filing requirements, including e-filing protocols.
- Organize and maintain electronic and physical legal files, including indexing, exhibit preparation, and post-closing file management.
- Track deadlines, maintain calendars, and manage case schedules.
- Coordinate meetings, court appearances, and closings.
- Conduct research and respond to internal and external requests for information.
- Open new matters and set up corresponding files.
- Provide traditional legal assistant support, including word processing, time entry, filing, and telephone coverage when necessary.
- Deliver additional administrative or case-related support as needed.
Requirements
- Technical proficiency: Strong Microsoft Word and Excel skills; familiarity with document management, e-filing systems and e-discovery software a plus.
- Teamwork and independence: Ability to work autonomously while collaborating effectively with attorneys and staff.
- Organization and adaptability: Capable of handling multiple priorities, meeting tight deadlines, and shifting focus as needs arise.
- Communication skills: Excellent written, verbal, and telephone communication with a professional demeanor.
