As Senior Legal Counsel, reporting to the Group General Counsel, you will provide practical, timely and strategic legal advise across a broad range of areas, ensuring compliance and supporting the continued success of Barrett Firearms Manufacturing Inc.
About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Legal Counsel with hands-on experience across a variety of legal areas who can hit the ground running and undertake activities including to:
Provide legal advice to protect the business and its interests, and proactively determine which legal matters to escalate to General Counsel, CEO and the Executive team on government contracting, export regulations, compliance, employment matters, procurement and operational legal issues in line with delegation of authority.
- Review, draft and negotiate contracts and agreements while maintaining contract templates and registers.
- Support the development of legal policies, procedures and training initiatives.
- Assist with corporate compliance, including conflict of interest, anti-bribery and corruption, privacy, whistleblowing and probity.
- Research legal issues and provide briefs on key topics relevant to the broader legal team, management and more generally business.
- Support the development of intellectual property protection and management strategies.
- Proactively monitor and report on case law, legislative updates and regulatory changes, keeping the broader legal team, management and more generally the business informed.
- Be an active member of a small yet efficient cross-jurisdictional legal team.
About You
You are a self-starter with a proactive approach, have a strong ethical compass, excellent collaboration and communication skills, and a strong eye for detail. You thrive in a fast-paced environment and have a passion for providing practical legal solutions.
- Licensed to practice law in Tennessee, United States.
- Prior in-house legal experience.
- Expertise in commercial transactions, including drafting and negotiating contracts.
- Familiarity with USA BATFE regulations or ITAR is highly regarded.
