Job Description

The Program Technician (PT) II in the Imaging and Record Services Section processes the more complex and sensitive documents and workflows for entry into the Automated Archive System (AAS). The PT II also monitors and processes the Verification, Error Resolution, Expedite, and Final Resolution Queues within the primary scanning application, the Justice Electronic Document Imaging (JEDI) system. The PT II performs various inquiries and activities into the Automated Criminal History System, AAS, Folder Control System, and JEDI, in addition to various tasks related to the processing of fingerprint cards. The PT II must determine the completeness and accuracy of criminal history source documents and be familiar with the criminal justice system and reporting processes for criminal history.

The PT II also provides training and secondary verification review of work produced by various levels of staff in the section, ensuring the final product meets content requirements as needed on the multiple workflows and processes.

Desirable Qualifications

In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:

  • Experience in sorting, reviewing, and preparing documents for scanning
  • Performs quality control steps to ensure processing criteria has been met to avoid data errors
  • The PT II must determine the completeness and accuracy of documents and be familiar with the criminal justice system
  • Will be indexing, importing and scanning for long periods of time and must have computer experience
  • Ability to multitask
  • Provide trainings to staff
  • Scan, upload and process documents
  • Ability to retrieve and replace files on 9 ft carriages
  • Must be able to carry an armload of 6 to 10 inches of paper-filled folders
  • Lift 20 pounds, and push a filled metal cart weighting up to 225 pounds
  • Must be able to stoop, kneel, and utilizes a step stool to retrieve folders from mobile shelving units with or without reasonable accommodation

This position is located in the California Justice Information Services Division, Bureau of Criminal Information & Analysis, Records & Biometric Identification Branch, Imaging & Live Scan Program, Imaging & Record Services Section.

Working Conditions

This position is designated for telework under Government Code section 14200 for eligible applicants residing in California and may require reporting to headquarters or field offices and facilities to fulfill operational needs. This position is eligible for telework, and will be required to report to the office as needed/required. The successful candidate must reside in California upon appointment.
