Job Description

JOB DESCRIPTION:

We are seeking an enthusiastic and organized individual who is (preferably) proficient in the Spanish-language to fill the Full-Time Legal Assistant position in our San Antonio office.

A DAY IN THE LIFE (Legal Assistant):

  • Provide litigation support to the department and attorneys as needed in the collaborative efforts to move cases forward
  • Prepare and e-file litigation documents with various courts
  • Prepare various outgoing letters
  • Maintain and update records and documents within our case management and document storage software
  • Handle regular correspondence and coordination with clients, officers of the court, court personnel, taxpayers, and others
  • Track case activity through our case management system logs and corresponding reports.
  • Meet daily and weekly deadlines related to the many aspects of the litigation process including the collection of amounts owed on cases
  • Pick up documents and evidence from tax office and other locations
  • Receive and direct inbound phone calls
  • Additional clerical or administrative duties, as needed or assigned

Please note: We do not expect for you to be able to complete these tasks immediately upon hiring. As part of your training, we will work with the right candidate towards the goal of a successful performance assessment after 60 days.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • At least one (1) year experience in an office setting
  • At least one (1) year experience in customer service in some capacity

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Three (3) years of professional work experience
  • Have previous experience in a law office, with a general understanding of the litigation process
  • Previous experience or working knowledge of Texas E-Filing procedures, Skip-tracing techniques and/or utilization of E-Cabinet systems

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT:

  • Minimum of high school diploma (or equivalent) (required)
  • Paralegal Certification (preferred)
  • Bachelor's Degree (preferred)

Essential Skills:

To succeed in the DAY IN THE LIFE, we need our new team member to have the following skillsets: strong oral and written communication skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office (specifically Word, Excel and Outlook), a canny ability to meet deadlines and prioritize tasks, to be all about the details, be proactive about problems so we can work together for solutions, and be dependable.

Physical Demands:

Although you will be at your desk for the bulk of the day, you will be regularly required to walk, sit, speak, and hear. The employee is required to stand, use hand to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms, the employee may be required, on occasion, to stoop, kneel, or crouch. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Employee may be required to travel by air or car.
