As a Managing Attorney, you will oversee the daily operations of the department while actively participating in organization-wide planning, decision-making, and initiatives. Your responsibilities include representing clients in trials, mediation, and arbitration, as well as handling trial preparations alongside other attorneys. You will also collaborate with paralegals and legal assistants to ensure efficiency and excellence in case management. This leadership role requires strong strategic thinking, effective communication, and a commitment to delivering outstanding legal representation.

Responsibilities:

Regular day-to-day operations include but are not limited to the following:

  • Demonstrate commitment and proactiveness to the Reel Father’s Rights mission
  • Attend court hearings on behalf of clients and argue motions
  • Strategize, prepare for, and attend trial proceedings, mediation, and arbitration
  • Maintains case costs by verifying outstanding balances with clients, and essential staff
  • Supports case planning by preparing case summaries and materials for mediation conferences; preparing pleadings; monitoring discovery responses; organizing materials for team case review
  • Is involved with trial proceedings working with support staff in organizing evidence; preparing exhibits; scheduling witnesses; ensuring that witnesses are ready/prepared, when needed
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior attorneys and paralegals.

Skills:

  • Ability to supervise attorneys, advocates, law students and support staff and maintain a strong and motivated team of advocates
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Persuasive writing skills and verbal communication skills are critical
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
  • Exercises good judgement and confidentiality at the highest degree
  • Ability to collaborate, multitask, and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment

Qualifications:

  • 5-10+ years of family law experience
  • Certified Family Law Specialist (CFLS), a plus
  • Must be currently active with the California State Bar Association without disciplinary actions
  • Prior experience representing clients in trials, mediation, and arbitration
  • History of handling heavy caseloads with very little supervision
  • Prior leadership experience, required
  • Bilingual, a plus
