Job Description

Reports to: Chief Legal Officer

 

GENERAL SUMMARY

 

The Paralegal will assist the Legal Department in various legal tasks, including but not limited to conducting legal research, monitoring legislation and judicial opinions for issues that are relevant to BSF, review, redrafting and maintenance of corporate contracts, assisting in the maintenance of the corporate entities, assisting with regulatory paperwork as needed, preparing and reviewing documents, responding to requests for information, assisting with risk/compliance program among other projects that may arise from time to time within the Legal Department.

 

ESSENTIAL TO THE POSITION

 

Must have received Jesus Christ as his/her personal Savior and be in full agreement with the Bible Study Fellowship Statement of Faith, Human Sexuality Policy, Core Values and Cultural Commitments. 

 

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of legal practices and an appreciation for our Christian mission. This role requires exceptional organizational and communication skills and the ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and confidentiality. 

 

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES   

  

  • Provide support to the Legal Division in all legal matters, including contracts, compliance, and other legal issues. 
  • Conduct legal research and analyze relevant laws, regulations, and case precedents to assist with legal decisions and advice. 
  • Prepare and draft legal documents such as contracts, agreements, and correspondence under supervision of BSF attorneys. 
  • Assist in the review and negotiation of contracts and other legal agreements. 
  • Maintain and organize legal files, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality. 
  • Assist in the preparation of reports, summaries, and presentations for legal matters. 
  • Coordinate and schedule meetings. 
  • Communicate effectively with all internal stakeholders and external parties as may be requested from time to time. 
  • Monitor and track deadlines to ensure timely completion of tasks. 
  • Stay current on changes in applicable laws and regulations relevant to the ministry's operations. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Chief Legal Officer.

  • Legal Research and Analysis: Possesses strong research skills to gather relevant legal materials, including statutes, regulations, case law, and legal articles. Able to analyze this information effectively and summarize key points to support the Chief Legal Officer in decision-making and case preparation.
  • Document Management and Drafting: Proficiency in document management is essential for organizing and maintaining legal files, contracts, pleadings, and other documents. Should also have the ability to draft various legal documents under the supervision of the Chief Legal Officer, such as correspondence, agreements, motions, and briefs.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Strong communication skills are crucial to interact effectively with internal stakeholders, external parties, and other legal professionals. Should be able to communicate clearly, promptly and professionally via email, phone, and in-person meetings, and collaborate with all team members to achieve legal objectives.
  • Ethics and Professionalism: Must adhere to ethical standards and maintain professionalism in all aspects of work. This includes maintaining client confidentiality, avoiding conflicts of interest, and upholding the highest standards of integrity and honesty in all interactions with clients, colleagues, and the Legal Department.

 

 

SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS, & EXPERIENCE

Must possess an associate degree in Paralegal Studies or a related field, although a bachelor's degree is preferred. A Paralegal certification is a plus. Minimum of 3 years of experience working as a corporate paralegal in either a law firm or corporate legal department, demonstrating a solid understanding of legal principles, practices, and procedures.

 

Strong research and analytical abilities are essential, along with excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must exhibit exceptional organizational and time-management skills, capable of working both independently and collaboratively within a team setting. Proficiency in legal research tools and case management software is expected. Moreover, the individual must demonstrate a commitment to maintaining confidentiality and handling sensitive information discreetly. Familiarity with Christian principles and values is desired, as well as a willingness to align with the ministry's faith-based mission and values.  

 

Employees may be required to travel as necessary, including outside their country.  Employees will be required to attend in person employee events as scheduled by BSF from time to time.  Employees must fulfill the performance standards of this position and comply with all policies, guidelines and procedures of BSF, including those set out in the Employee Handbook or otherwise communicated (verbally or in writing) to employees.

  • Occasional travel as needed

  • This in-person position is full-time located in Grapevine TX
  • All applicants, regardless of location, must be able to work during the hours of 8-5pm, CST, Monday through Friday
