Job Description

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented, and experienced Litigation Paralegal to join our dynamic team at DJC Law Firm, a leading personal injury law firm. The ideal candidate will assist in all aspects of litigation, from case inception through trial, and provide critical support to attorneys in managing personal injury cases. This role requires a deep understanding of legal procedures, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Case Preparation and Management:
    • Assist attorneys with case management from intake to settlement or trial.
    • Organize and maintain case files, ensuring all documents are accurately filed and easily accessible.
    • Draft, review, and file pleadings, motions, discovery requests, and responses.
    • Prepare discovery materials (e.g., interrogatories, requests for production of documents, and depositions).

Legal Research & Documentation:

    • Conduct legal research on statutes, case law, and other relevant sources as needed.
    • Prepare and maintain detailed timelines and case chronologies.
    • Assist with preparing expert witnesses, deposition summaries, and trial exhibits.

Client Interaction:

    • Communicate with clients to gather information, provide updates, and assist with case-related questions.
    • Coordinate medical records requests, including reviewing and summarizing medical documentation.

Court Filings & Deadlines:

    • Ensure that all necessary documents are filed with the court in a timely and accurate manner.
    • Track and maintain case calendars to meet deadlines, including court dates, discovery deadlines, and filing dates.

Trial Preparation:

    • Assist attorneys in trial preparation, including the creation of trial binders and exhibits.
    • Attend trial preparation meetings and assist in the coordination of trial logistics.
    • Assist attorneys during depositions, hearings, and trials by taking notes, organizing documents, and preparing exhibits.

Settlement & Resolution:

    • Assist with the preparation of settlement documentation and the negotiation process.
    • Coordinate the gathering of settlement releases, lien resolution, and final case documentation.

Experience:

    • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a litigation paralegal, preferably in personal injury law.
    • Solid understanding of personal injury claims, medical records, and insurance processes.
    • Familiarity with legal software (e.g., Clio, Westlaw, LexisNexis, or similar) – FileVine is a huge plus!

Skills:

    • Strong knowledge of litigation procedures, court rules, and deadlines.
    • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and legal case management software.
