The ideal candidate should have strong public sector experience, a strong track record of media relations with top-tier reporters and proven capabilities as a writer. The role demands an expert communicator and storyteller with a strong background in communications, across traditional media relations and digital media.
The right candidate will bring an entrepreneurial attitude to the role and have a successful track record executing successful campaigns with mission-critical goals. This individual must be a natural, collaborative leader with excellent writing, communication, presentation and relationship management skills. They will report to the Head of External Relations at Nasdaq.
Qualifications:
- 8-12 years of experience in strategic communications roles, in government or in-house at a company.
- Extensive communications experience in political and regulatory affairs, with a proven ability to navigate complex landscapes to achieve key goals and objectives.
- Experience in managing policy or regulation-related communication programs from conception to execution.
- Experience in the financial services and/or capital markets industry is preferred.
- Strong writing and editing abilities are essential for crafting compelling messaging across various channels.
- Proficiency in building and maintaining relationships with media outlets.
- Familiarity with Nasdaq’s industry, including relevant trends, regulations, and stakeholders, to tailor communication strategies accordingly.
- Willingness to adapt to changing communication landscapes and innovate strategies to stay ahead of the curve.
Responsibilities:
- Communications strategy – Work with the legal, risk and regulatory leadership to define, develop, and implement communications plans that advance the organization’s key priorities.
- Media relations - Build and maintain relationships with key reporters and editors focused on regulation, risk and policy within financial services and technology.
- Content development - Serve as lead writer for key content including speeches, bylines, and other executive content.
- Thought leadership development – Support the legal, risk and regulatory team in developing thought leadership on behalf of the enterprise, and in partnership with communications counterparts.
- Campaign management – Lead key campaigns to achieve both enterprise and business-specific policy priorities.
- Intelligence reporting – In partnership with the legal, risk and regulatory team, provide reporting and intelligence that enables the enterprise to stay ahead of evolving regulations and other legal requirements across each of Nasdaq’s core markets.

The base pay range for this role is $111,000 - $150,000. In addition to base salary, Nasdaq provides a generous annual bonus/commission (short-term incentive), and equity (long-term incentive), comprehensive benefits, and opportunity for growth.
