Job Description

Eagle County is seeking an Assistant County Attorney to join our collaborative legal team. This role focuses primarily on transactional matters involving real estate acquisition, development, and land use planning, while also supporting a wide range of legal services for county operations.

Position Details:

Classification Salary Range: $106,862 to $160,293.
Hiring Salary Range: $106,862 - $133,578. An offer above the hiring range may be considered based on qualifications.

Bonus: $2500 Sign-On Bonus paid on your first paycheck & $2500 Retention Bonus, paid after 6 months

Hours and Location: This is a full-time position. The work schedule is Monday – Friday and work hours are determined by need but generally fall between 8:00am – 5:00 pm. Flexible work arrangements may be available upon a demonstrated ability to meet job expectations. 

The Attorney's Office is adjacent to the Eagle County Government Building, located at 500 Broadway, Eagle, CO 81631. This position will be required to attend in-person hearings, work sessions and meetings, including attendance at other Eagle County locations as necessary.

What You'll Do:

  • Provide legal advice to the Board of County Commissioners, county departments, boards, and commissions.

  • Draft, review, and revise contracts, resolutions, deeds, leases, easements, covenants, and other legal documents.

  • Advise on real estate transactions, including title review and associated agreements.

  • Counsel staff on land use and planning issues; provide legal support during planning commission and board hearings.

  • Conduct legal research and prepare opinions, briefs, memoranda, and correspondence.

  • Review and assist with responses to public records requests under the Colorado Open Records Act.

  • Represent the County Attorney’s Office with professionalism, integrity, and alignment to Eagle County Government’s core values.

What We're Looking For:

  • Education & Licensure: JD from an ABA-accredited law school; licensed and in good standing with the Colorado Bar.

  • 3+ years of legal practice with significant experience in contracts and real estate matters.

  • Strong writing, communication, and analytical skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and provide sound, well-reasoned legal advice.

  • Preferred: Experience in local government law with an emphasis on land use and planning.
