As a Vice President, Assistant General Counsel within the Home Lending/Commercial Term Lending Litigation team, you will independently and collaboratively work with external legal representatives to defend the Firm in various litigation cases. Your role will also involve providing counsel on a wide array of matters and issues related to Chase's residential and commercial mortgage lending operations. You will independently liaise with and support the Firm's senior management. Utilizing your litigation skills and sound legal judgment, you will apply your comprehensive knowledge of litigation matters to make informed decisions that yield positive outcomes for our customers and business partners. Job responsibilities
- Managing actual and potential litigation matters
- Advising on litigation issues that impact various business functions, including loan origination, servicing and foreclosure
- Managing dispute resolution
- Interpreting existing laws, rules, and regulations and advising on changes thereto
- Advising on advocacy in connection with contemplated and proposed laws, rules, and regulations
- Providing legal advice to the business and functions
- Selecting, engaging, and managing outside counsel for the Firm on all matters in which outside counsel is engaged
Required qualifications, capabilities and skills
- At least 5 years of post-admission legal practicing experience
- Juris doctorate degree. All candidates must be in compliance with all relevant licensing requirements including the requirements of the jurisdiction where the role will be located prior to commencement of employment
- Knowledge of, and experience with, complex litigation matters
- Ability to assume significant independent responsibility immediately
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to think strategically, write well and communicate effectively with both legal and non-legal professionals, including senior executives of the Firm
- Ability to build and maintain good client and colleague relationships
Preferred qualifications, capabilities and skills
- Extensive litigation experience, with prior experience in financial services or Home Lending or Commercial Term Lending litigation being a plus
- Ability to manage a large volume of cases and balance competing priorities
