POSITION SUMMARY:

As a Critical Case Paralegal, you will provide crucial support to attorneys during both presuit and litigation by performing a variety of tasks including case management, research, review of documentation, drafting of lawsuits and discovery, and trial preparation. This position focuses on cases that include significant traumatic injuries or death. Case types typically include medical malpractice, nursing home/assisted living facility neglect, failure to use an AED in a public place, sexual assault, products liability, negligent security, vehicular wrongful death, and others.



KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Completes client intakes, builds out new client files, and prepares correspondence.
  • Manages all aspects of cases presuit and in litigation.
  • Coordinates with experts, drafts Notices of Intent, and responds to presuit discovery for nursing home, assisted living, and medical malpractice cases.
  • Completes legal and other online research to support case strategy.
  • Reviews and summarizes records, reports, and other case-related documents.
  • Organizes and maintains electronic case files, evidence, and legal documents.
  • Ensures compliance with court rules and deadlines.
  • Assist attorneys with case preparation, including drafting demands and complaints, drafting and filing pleadings, motions, notices, witness and exhibit lists, and pre-trial stipulations.
  • Manages the litigation discovery process by preparing discovery requests, responses, and documentation.
  • Assist attorneys during trial preparation and proceedings, including preparing exhibits, coordinating witness appearances, and managing trial planning.
  • Completes all aspects of the case settlement and disbursal process.
  • Communicates and coordinates with clients, defense counsel, co-counsel, probate attorneys, and experts.
  • Performs administrative tasks as needed.

Requirements
  • Degree in Paralegal Studies, or
  • Paralegal Certification (e.g., as a FRP) required, and
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a paralegal (preferably in Personal Injury).
  • Strong understanding of the litigation process, legal terms, and court procedures.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interact with fellow teams and attorneys.
  • Solid organizational skills, ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Professional, and legal research databases (e.g., LexisNexis)
  • FileVine case management preferred but not required.
