Job Description

Responsible for leveraging legal knowledge related to general corporate matter, compliance, litigation, transactions, licensing, and/or vendor oversight.  Applies appropriate legal judgment and sound business logic to all caseloads/files/matters and issues. Provides advice and recommendations for action to more senior attorneys and management regarding matters of intermediate complexity which have or may have a sizable dollar impact on business activities and operations.  Additionally, may take an active role in the management of litigation/contested matters at the case and strategic level which includes the drafting and filing pleadings as well as appear at hearings, depositions, and trials.  May receive specific direction from management or more senior law professionals as to the outcomes, process, and schedules expected.

Responsibilities

Manage active caseload of files or issues within scope of responsibility.  Perform extensive research of legal principles and precedents. May also engage and partner with firms to ensure compliance with the MCM firm manuals and policies as well as state and federal law.

Advise members of legal or organizational management. May assist more senior members of the department on more complex matters, applying appropriate legal judgment and sound business logic.

Work with and manage outside counsel on legal matters and strategies on particular issues; balance the allocation of internal and external resources taking into account such factors as:  workload, skill base, project schedules, and cost of resources.

Education

Required: State Bar membership in one or more states. Master or Advanced, JD from accredited law school.


Language

Required: English

Experience

Required: 2+ years of relevant legal experience in a variety of legal subjects; prior experience in managing and developing attorneys and staff. Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Strong communication, advocacy, and negotiation skills

Preferred: Prior experience in both law firms and corporate settings; prior experience in the collections or financial industry

Starting Compensation

Annual Salary: $83,300.00 - $90,000.00 (Amount based on office location, relevant experience, skills, and competencies)
