The Commercial Counsel is a member of the Colgate-Palmolive Global Contracts Center of Excellence (COE), a team of lawyers managing supplier and service provider contracts and implementing global contract management solutions. The Commercial Counsel is responsible for drafting and negotiating a wide range of commercial agreements, creating and maintaining contract templates, developing and expanding digital contract management tools, and providing day-to-day commercial-related advice and counsel to the Global Procurement Organization as well as other functions/divisions.
Responsibilities:

Draft and negotiate agreements with suppliers and service providers of all types, including materials and packaging supply agreements, master services agreements, statements of work, contract manufacturing agreements, agency agreements, software licenses, warehousing agreements, and transportation agreements

Be part of ensuring the success and continuing evolution of the Contracts COE

Support implementation of, and improvements to, digital contract management systems and related processes

Continuously identify opportunities to improve efficiency and standardization of contracting workflows globally

Work with Legal team members to find additional ways for the Contracts COE to provide support and value, help create digital solutions for optimization, and help drive execution of digital contracting solutions and improved workflow processes

Evaluate and update existing contract templates and playbooks, and develop new templates and playbook clauses, as needed

Provide advice to and serve as an escalation point for contract managers

Work closely and build strong relationships with Procurement and other functions in order to ensure contracts support the achievement of business objectives.

Develop and support training for the Procurement Organization regarding day-to-day legal questions, contract policies, and best practices

Develop and deliver training for GLO lawyers/paralegals in the commercial contracting space
Required Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) Degree

4+ years of Legal experience
- Bachelors Degree
-
Experience drafting and negotiating a wide range of commercial contracts (as described in the above job responsibilities)

Experience with Microsoft Word and/or Google Suite
Preferred Qualifications:

In-house experience but not required

Experience with implementing and/or utilizing contract management/authoring tools

Experience with negotiating data privacy contract terms
Compensation and Benefits
Salary Range $134,800.00 - $168,500.00 USD
Pay is determined based on experience, qualifications, and location. Salaried employees may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses, profit-sharing, and long-term incentives for Executive-level roles.
Benefits: Salaried employees enjoy a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, basic life insurance, paid parental leave, disability coverage, and participation in the 401(k) retirement plan with company matching contributions subject to eligibility requirements. Additional benefits include a minimum of 15 vacation/PTO days (hourly employees receive a minimum of 120 hours) and 13 paid holidays (vacation days are prorated based on the employee's hire date within the calendar year). Paid sick leave is adjusted based on role and location in accordance with local laws. Detailed information regarding paid sick leave entitlements will be provided to employees upon hiring and may be subject to adjustments based on changes in legislation or company policies.
