Position Summary 

IQ Fiber is actively seeking a highly qualified Director, Legal Counsel, to join our growing organization as our dedicated in-house legal expert.  As a key member of our team, this strategic leadership position will establish our legal department and serve as the sole in-house legal advisor and collaborative thought leader, working closely with our team to drive business success. 

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing comprehensive legal guidance, strategic direction, and proactive support across all aspects of our business operations, while helping to shape the company's legal strategy and ensure alignment with our organizational objectives. This role offers an exceptional opportunity to make a significant impact in a dynamic, fast-growing company while building and leading the legal function. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Serve as primary legal advisor to the Senior Leadership Team, in conjunction with external legal guidance, providing legal counsel and implications on business decisions and initiatives. 

  • Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts and agreements, including vendor contracts, service agreements, licensing arrangements, and partnership deals. 

  • Provide legal guidance on employment matters, intellectual property protection, risk management strategies, and dispute resolution procedures. 

  • Manage corporate governance matters and ensure regulatory compliance across all business units. 

  • Oversee litigation strategy and administration, including case management, discovery processes, and settlement negotiations. 

  • Develop and implement legal policies and procedures to ensure consistent practices throughout the organization and minimize legal exposure. 

  • Monitor and interpret legislative changes affecting the company, providing regular updates to leadership and implementing necessary adjustments to maintain compliance. 

  • Maintain corporate records and legal documentation, ensuring proper organization, storage, and accessibility of all legal files and contracts. 

Required Qualifications 

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school 

  • Active membership in state bar association 

  • 4-7 years of experience as in-house counsel or equivalent business law experience 

  • Strong knowledge of corporate law, contracts, and regulatory compliance 

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills 

  • Superior written and verbal communication abilities 

  • Proven ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities 

  • Strategic thinking and business acumen 

  • Sound judgment and decision-making ability 

  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills 

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment 

  • High level of integrity and professional ethics
