POSITION SUMMARY:

The Real Estate Paralegal supports in-house real estate attorneys with legal and administrative tasks involving acquisitions, leasing, property management, and related real estate functions. This role is critical in conducting due diligence, reviewing title and survey materials, coordinating with third-party vendors, and supporting compliance with legal and regulatory requirements for a national retail footprint.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

30% - Coordinate real estate due diligence processes, including ordering and reviewing title commitments, ALTA surveys, environmental site assessments, and facility inspections.  Coordinate property closings.

25% - Assist attorneys in managing and document preparation for leases, easements, construction and development contracts, and zoning/permitting matters.

15% - Work closely with external vendors such as title companies, surveyors, and environmental consultants to support real estate transactions.

15% - Organize and maintain real estate records, databases, and project tracking tools.

5% - Support attorneys in handling disputes, litigation, and eminent domain/takings as needed.

5% - Research property records and legal issues related to land use, ownership, and entitlements.

5% - Facilitate internal communication between legal and other departments involved in real estate operations.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Educational/Experience Requirements:

Associate degree or paralegal certificate required; bachelor’s degree preferred. Minimum of 3 years’ experience supporting real estate attorneys or real estate legal functions.

Required Technical Skills/Knowledge: 

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Drive). Familiarity with real estate documents, title and survey review processes, and document recording procedures.

General Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Analytical Thinking: Synthesizes information; researches and evaluates real estate  issues.

  • Attention to Detail: Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. 

  • Priority Coordination: Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

  • Professionalism:  Strong written and verbal communication skills. Maintains confidentiality; Strong interpersonal skills / ability to interact with external vendors and internal stakeholders across all levels. 

  • Dependability & Time Management: Consistent and prompt availability - whether working remote or in-office; meets deadlines, handles multiple responsibilities, and remains adaptable in a dynamic work environment.

 

Physical Requirements: 

Ability to lift up to 25 lbs and stand/walk/kneel occasionally. Regular use of keyboard, phone, and general office equipment. Standard office setting.

Work Environment:

Standard office environment with rare / minimal travel required.
