
How Will Your Role Impact First Command?
The Legal Intern is part-time role responsible for practicing their legal knowledge and skills in a professional setting. This position will collaborate with multiple teams such as Regulatory Compliance, Operations, Marketing, Financial Services and Vendor Management to complete responsibilities for a high-growth integrated financial services organization focused on our nation’s military and their families. Their duties include supporting the Financial Services department with various projects and tasks as they gain experience and confidence within their desired profession.
What Will You Be Doing?
- Gather knowledge regarding the roles and responsibilities of First Command’s corporate legal department
- Gain an understanding of the company and core values
- Develop an understanding of how legal & regulatory compliance help business units with strategy and overall goals.
- Support the legal team in providing timely, accurate, and insightful reporting and analysis
- Provide support to the team on various projects
- Work with team members to accomplish function specific tasks and meet project deadlines
- Effectively perform legal research and analysis
- Gain practical in-house experience in a variety of disciplines
- The position(s) is in Fort Worth, Texas, with an expectation to be in the office two to three days a week
What Skills & Qualifications Do You Need?
Education
- Must be currently enrolled at an accredited US Law School seeking a Juris Doctor
- Minimum GPA of 3.0
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Strong verbal and written communications skills
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks based on relative importance and urgency
- Able to communicate project status to various levels of management in both technical and non-technical terms
- Ability to balance multiple priorities
