Job Description

This position is located in the Domestic Violence Division of the District of Columbia Superior Court. The Calendar Coordinator is responsible for reviewing entries made in the case management system for completeness and correctness, communicating case and docket errors for correction to respective division employees, and ensuring compliance with applicable court, branch and division policies, court rules, business processes and standard operating procedures.

Duties

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

  • Delivers daily court calendars and files to judicial officers and courtroom support staff.
  • Reviews all cases for accuracy and ensures they are properly closed.
  • Examines work process, obtains corrections on inconsistencies, and monitors the flow of forms and records utilized for processing.
  • Reviews and certifies judgment and commitment orders in accordance with court policies and procedures. 
  • Provides technical assistance to division supervisor and makes recommendations about changes that would enhance the operation of the unit/division.
  • Assembles current statistical data for compiling reports and presenting to management.
  • Responsible for the successful transfer of incarcerated litigants to and from the jail or the Department of Behavioral Health for domestic violence proceedings. Confirms their presence and that the appropriate documentation has been prepared and forwarded.
  • Assists with the collection of statistical data and reports regarding the administration and activity of domestic violence cases.
  • Monitors daily calendar events, ensuring entries detailing proceeding events are captured, and information entered accurately. 
  • Works in coordination with the supervisor to assist with training new staff members.

  • $75,329 - $97,925/year

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma plus six (6) years of administrative or clerical experience in criminal and/or family law court matters, or other criminal justice/legal environment.

The District of Columbia Courts is an independent branch of the District of Columbia Government and is not under the authority of the City Mayor or the D. C. Council. DC Courts' appropriation comes directly from Congress. All DC Courts non-judicial employees receive federal benefits for the following programs:  Life Insurance, Retirement Benefits, Health Insurance and Workers Compensation.

The DC Courts leave policy is as follows:

Annual Leave:  New full-time employees earn four (4) hours of annual leave biweekly. After three years of service this increases to six (6)hours biweekly, and at 15 years it increases to eight(8)hours biweekly. Most military, federal and District of Columbia government service counts toward the time required to go into the next higher annual leave category. Employees can carry over no more than 240 hours of annual leave into the next leave year.

Sick Leave is used for personal medical needs, care of a family member, or adoption related purposes. Full-time employees earn four(4)hours of sick leave biweekly. This leave can be accrued without limit.

In addition to the federal health plans, the DC Courts offer employees supplemental vision and dental plans as well as a commuter transit benefit subsidy, for a maximum of $150 a month. There are 26 pay periods in the year.
