About the Role
We are seeking an experienced In-House Counsel to join our growing legal team and provide strategic, hands-on legal guidance for our multifamily real estate operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in employment law, landlord–tenant issues, and real estate compliance.
This role is critical in helping us maintain compliance, resolve disputes proactively, and support both our property management and HR teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Advise on employee relations, including wage & hour compliance, terminations, internal investigations, and ADA/FMLA issues
- Provide legal guidance on landlord–tenant matters, including evictions, lease disputes, habitability issues, and fair housing compliance
- Manage worker’s compensation claims in coordination with HR and third-party administrators
- Draft and review legal documents, lease agreements, policies, and employment contracts
- Coordinate with external counsel when needed and manage litigation strategy
- Ensure ongoing compliance with federal, state, and local regulations impacting the multifamily housing and employment space.
Requirements
- J.D. from an accredited law school and licensed to practice
- 5+ years of legal experience, including at least 2 years in a multifamily housing setting
- In-house legal or direct support to Multifamily or Independent Living teams strongly preferred
- Strong working knowledge of employment law, wage & hour statutes, and landlord–tenant regulations
- Exceptional communication and practical problem-solving skills.
