Position Summary

Shifts Available: Mon, Tue, Wed: 4a-4p OR Thu, Fri, Sat 4p-4a – including holidays; Overtime and holiday pay eligible


Agency Summary  

The Marion County Clerk is the custodian of all court records, serves as the court’s fiscal agent, trustee of child support payments, and issues marriage licenses.

Job Summary

Incumbent is responsible for a variety of clerical functions in the case management system. Receives bond payments, and processes search warrants and new criminal case filings. Performs a variety of time sensitive tasks with limited supervision. Position reports to a department with operations that are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including holidays.

 

Provides prompt, professional, and courteous service to members of the public, primarily in-person, but also by phone, email, or in writing. Receives and processes cash, check, and credit card payments. Follows established policies and procedures, is well organized, and detail oriented. Works cooperatively within a team environment to ensure all tasks are completed timely.  Substantial independent judgment and ability to work independently is required. 

 

Requires proficient knowledge of and strict adherence to requirements and regulations related to the filing of legal documents and court proceedings; accessing court services; accessibility of court records, especially confidential records; and various fees and payment processes.

Position Responsibilities

  • Creates new case filings within case management system
  • Processes search warrants requests timely and accurately
  • Accepts bond payments in person and electronically
  • Receives and responds to in-bound phone calls
  • Works cooperatively with members of law enforcement, judicial officers and staff, and bond agents
  • Responds to inquiries and requests for information from other agencies and members of the public

Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent and two (2) years of previous clerical experience required.   Must be able to communicate effectively orally, verbally, and in written formats. Attention to detail is a priority. Requires ability to work independently with minimum supervision and promotes teamwork.

 

Preferred Job Requirements and Qualifications

Associates degree or some post-secondary education. Clerical experience in a court or similar legal setting.
