The In-House Counsel role is an exciting opportunity for a recent law school graduate or early-career legal professional to gain hands-on experience as In-House Legal Counsel. This position offers mentorship and professional development while providing exposure to a variety of legal matters within the company.
Employment is contingent upon passing the bar exam. Candidates who have passed the bar in another state will need to meet Colorado's requirements for requirements for Single Client Counsel Certification. This position is based at our headquarters in Centennial, CO, and will be fully in-office.
Contract & Compliance Support:
- Review, draft, and negotiate a variety of contracts, policies, and legal documents to support business operations.
- Assist with corporate governance matters, including compliance initiatives and regulatory filings.
- Support risk management efforts by identifying potential legal risks and implementing appropriate mitigation strategies.
Legal Research & Advisory:
- Conduct in-depth legal research and provide clear, concise summaries on corporate, employment, intellectual property, and regulatory issues.
- Monitor and analyze evolving legal and regulatory developments, advising internal stakeholders on potential impacts.
- Ensure company policies, procedures, and practices align with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and legal best practices.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Collaborate with FAST’s Human Resources, Legal Team, and business leaders to address a wide range of legal matters, including employment law, contract negotiations, and corporate policies.
- Provide legal guidance on employee mobility matters, including reviewing and advising on immigration-related processes in partnership with HR (prior immigration experience is not required).
- Demonstrate a professional, friendly, and approachable demeanor, fostering strong working relationships across teams.
- Manage and coordinate relationships with external counsel as needed, ensuring alignment with business and legal objectives.
Confidentiality & Ethics:
- Maintain confidentiality and uphold the highest ethical standards in all legal matters.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant privacy laws, data protection regulations, and corporate confidentiality policies to safeguard company and client information.
Education & Licensing:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school (or current 3L expected to graduate).
- Successful completion of the bar exam (employment is contingent upon bar passage).
- Candidates who have passed the bar in another state must meet Colorado's requirements for Single Client Counsel Certification.
Experience & Skills:
- 0-2 years of legal experience, including internships, clerkships, or relevant work experience in corporate, employment, regulatory, or contract law.
- Strong legal research, analytical, and writing skills, with the ability to distill complex legal issues into actionable advice.
- Detail-oriented, with the ability to effectively manage multiple projects and deadlines in a dynamic environment.
- Excellent judgment, problem-solving, and risk-assessment abilities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey legal concepts to non-legal stakeholders.
Adaptability & Versatility:
- A desire to work on a variety of legal matters rather than specializing in one area.
- Comfortable taking on new challenges and learning about different areas of the law as business needs evolve.
- A "jack-of-all-trades" mindset—excited to support a range of legal functions, from contracts and compliance to employment law and corporate governance.
- Ability to pivot quickly between tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Technical & Professional Proficiency:
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite preferred.
