This is a temporary position and there are no leave or retirement benefits offered with this position. Individuals hired into a temporary State job must be fully qualified for the job. OSHR supports the Governor's Job Ready initiative and seeks to expand a temporary's skill set to enhance their qualifications for State government and private sector jobs. This temporary position is located in Raleigh, NC - 'wake County.

Job Order Hourly Rate of Pay: $34.00 (Based on education and/or years of relevant work experience reflected on the application).

This temporary position will be assigned to the Department of Justice. This position is located at 114 West Edenton Street, Raleigh, NC 27603.

The incumbent will draft settlement agreements, respond to motions, litigation of less complex cases, represent state agencies at mediations, and any other duties to assist staff attorneys in WC litigation.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies

  • Knowledge of case, statutory, civil law and workers' compensation law.
  • Knowledge of judicial and quasi-judicial procedures and the rules of evidence.
  • Ability to maintain organization, good judgment, accuracy, and timelines.
  • Ability to analyze facts, evidence, and legal instruments.
  • Ability to express conclusions and arguments clearly and logically in oral and written form.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Graduation from a recognized school of law and one year of professional legal experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
